Recommendations: Respond Faster
Automated suggestions boost agent efficiency, and provide flexibility for oversight and personalization.
Efficiency is essential when you’re fielding a lot of incoming conversations. Recommendations can help your team reply to customers with speed, clarity, and confidence.
What Are Recommendations?
When you open a conversation in your Avochato inbox, Recommendations provides a suggested reply based on the context.
To use it:
- Click or tap to populate the message into your chat box as a draft message.
- From there, you can hit send as-is, or tweak the message
- Need a new version? Click the circular refresh icon to get a different response.
Recommendations helps your team:
- Reply faster to incoming messages, especially after sending a Broadcast
- Maintain consistency in tone and style
- Reduce cognitive load for agents
- Scale support without sacrificing personalization
How to Enable Recommendations
- Go to the Automations tab on the left hand navigation bar
- Under AvoAI Agent, click AvoAI Agent Assist
- Within Agent Assist, scroll down and toggle Recommendations to ON

That’s it! You’re ready to start handling messages more efficiently than ever.
The average cost per recommendation is usually a few pennies, typically ranging between $0.01 - $0.08. Costs will depend on the length of the conversation and the amount of data processed.
Customize Recommendations with Instructions - Optional

What Is Are Instructions?
Instructions are text-based guidelines that direct how Avochato’s AI features should behave. They act as context and guardrails, ensuring the AI reflects your desired tone, company policies, and preferred wording in all interactions.
Examples of what you can define:
- Brand voice (e.g., friendly, professional, playful)
- Specific language to include (or avoid)
- How to handle refunds, FAQs, or product-specific replies
How to Set Up Instructions
1. Go to AvoAI Agent → Overview and turn AvoAI Agent On
Toggling this on enables the Configure Agent and Instruct Agent settings to guide Recommendations — it does not activate the AI Agent. Read more about AI Agent activation here.

2. Add New Instructions via “Instruct Agent”
To customize the recommendations AvoAI provides, click the purple Instruct Agent button on the right side of the Instruct Agent interface. This will open the New Instructions window, where you can add guidance for your AI. You can also choose from one of our templates you can start from under Recipes

2. Enter an “Instruction Title”
Create a descriptive name for this instruction. This name will help you organize and find this instruction.
3. Define the “Content”
The information you provide in this section will be used to guide and shape the recommendations you will see. You can fully customize these instructions and add as much detail as you like to define how your should behave. There’s no character limit. Once done, hit “Save”

4. Confirm the Instruction is Active
Scroll down below Recipes to view the instructions you’ve added for AvoAI. You can click on any instruction to edit or deactivate it. To delete an instruction, click the three-dot icon next to it.
