Best Practices When Submitting an A2P Application
Tips to Help Get Your A2P Application Approved
Improve the chances of getting your A2P application approved by reviewing the common reasons why campaigns are often rejected.
1. Choose the correct business type to prevent brand rejection
Brand rejection often occurs due to the selection of an inappropriate business type.

In most cases, you will need to choose “Private For-Profit” as your business type unless you belong to the following:
- Public For-Profit - must be listed on a public stock exchange
- Non-Profit and Government- qualification for special use cases (e.g. Charity/501(c)(3), Political)
2. Make sure your online or offline forms demonstrate proper opt-in and opt-out compliance
To avoid campaign rejection, you must clearly show how users agree (opt-in) to receive text messages and how they can opt-out. One of the first things you need is a proper Message Flow or Call to Action, which explains how users give consent and what they’re signing up for.

Your Message Flow must include:
- Program or brand name
- Message frequency, such as “3 msgs/month” or “recurring messages” (only needed for recurring texts)
- A link to your terms and conditions
- A link to your privacy policy
- It must be easy to find and clearly state how user’s mobile data is used
- It should confirm that user’s mobile data will not be shared or sold, especially to third parties or lead generators
- A notice that “Message and data rates may apply”
- Opt-out instructions, like: “Reply STOP to cancel”

Following all these steps helps show that users know what they’re signing up for and gives your campaign a better chance of being approved.
3. Clear Use Case Description
Explain clearly what your use case is about. Your description should include:
- Who is sending the messages
- Who will receive them
- Why the messages are being sent

4. Make Sure Your Business Can Be Found Online
Your application may be rejected if we can’t verify your business website. This can happen if:
- The site does not exist, or unfinished
- It's unaccessible because it is set to private or password-protected
- The URL you provided in the application is incorrect
- The URL doesn’t match your business name
- The content of the website is different from what your business is based on the application
An alternative if you don’t have a public website yet is to share a public business page instead like from LinkedIn.
