Testing Your AvoAI Agent with Sandbox Conversations

We’ve introduced a new way to test AvoAI Agents: a sandbox experience that lets you role-play as one of your contacts and chat directly with your AI Agent. This makes it easier to understand what customers will experience, while also giving you confidence when updating your Agent’s Instructions and Configuration.

How It Works

You’ll find the Test Agents option under the Automation tab. This feature allows you to spin up sandbox conversations to test the latest version of your AI Agent.

The sandbox leverages your:

  • AI Agent
  • Instructions
  • Inbox rules and settings

This ensures that your test conversations are a realistic simulation of how your bot would interact with an actual contact. You can quickly make updates to your Agent, then test and see results immediately without leaving Avochato.

Running a Test

When testing your AI Agent, you have two options:

  1. Use sample prompts – Select from pre-populated sample messages that simulate common customer questions
  1. Chat freely – Type your own messages in the chat box to see how your Agent responds in real time

What Happens Behind the Scenes

When you launch a sandbox session:

  • A new contact is automatically created using your user info for the first time
  • A new conversation is generated (one per session) in a hidden channel within your inbox
  • These sandbox chats are not visible to your team by default. To see them, edit your filters and enable the “Sandbox Test Chat” option

  • If you reset the sandbox or leave the session, the conversation resets entirely, giving you a fresh start
  • Messages sent in the Sandbox do not use SMS or RCS, they will never go outbound to the carrier network

AI-Generated FAQs

Avochato can automatically generate a list of frequently asked questions based on your inbox activity.

  • View FAQs in the Sandbox and test how your Agent responds

  • Find a new “Auto FAQ” set of instructions under Instruct Agent

  • If answers aren’t accurate, update your Instructions to improve responses and inbox Suggestions for you and your team
