Self-Serve Registration Process for A2P 10DLC

Who can register: Owner or Manager. Trial accounts are welcome to apply and can sync to an inbox once upgraded. A2P fees are pass-through and deducted from your account balance — see A Complete Guide to A2P 10DLC for the full breakdown.

What is A2P 10DLC?

A2P (Application-to-Person) messaging is any text sent from a business platform like Avochato to a person's phone from a 10 digit local number. US carriers require every business to register through A2P 10DLC, or your messages get blocked.

Submit your registration

Go to Settings > A2P & Use Case and click Register for A2P. One form covers your business, use case, and compliance checks.

Step 1 — Business Profile

Optional EIN Search

  1. Enter your EIN and press Search
  1. Click the matching result
  1. Business Profile, Brand Information, and Business Address auto-populate — fill in anything missing

Manual entry

No EIN match? Enter details by hand. Double-check every field against your IRS EIN letter.

Use your IRS EIN Letter (CP 575 or 147C) for exact details. Inaccurate info leads to carrier rejection plus a $4 resubmission fee.

Step 2 — Use Case & Sample Messages

Use case description must cover:

  • Type of business
  • Kind of messaging you'll send
  • Context and purpose of your messages
  • Who your contacts are

Two sample messages that match what you'll actually send:

  • Include your business name when introducing yourself
  • Include "Reply STOP to opt out" in at least one message
  • No public URL shorteners (bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.)

Marketing Messages — set to YES if your use case description mentions marketing. This must match what you described.

Step 4 — Submit

Press Continue, then Submit on the confirmation pop-up.

Refresh and return to Settings > A2P & Use Case. Status updates will come by email.

Review takes 1-5 business days, longer if anything needs correction.

An Inbox Syncing process runs with your phone number and text messages are typically verified with carriers <24 hours

Trial accounts can't sync until upgraded to a paid plan.

More options

Adding a use case or upgrading to high volume

Already have a brand registered? Submit a new use case from A2P & Use Case.

  • Low Volume: under 5,000 message segments in 24 hours
  • High Volume: over 5,000 message segments in 24 hours

Check Analytics filtered by date range to see your current volume.

High volume requires vetting. Without a vetting score, you'll see the Vetting Score Required pop-up — go back and click Apply for Vetting (learn more).

If you'll need high volume eventually, apply from the start to save the second submission.

Up to 49 inboxes can share one use case at the sync step.

Opt-in language requirements for online forms

If you collect opt-ins through a lead form, the form must include:

  1. Consent to Contact via call and text
  1. Opt-Out Instructions (e.g., "Reply STOP")
  1. Message and Data Rates disclosure
  1. Message Frequency disclosure
  1. Privacy Policy & Terms link

You'll also share a working website URL that matches your business name.

FAQs

What happens if my use case is rejected?

Usually caused by incomplete or incorrect info. The $15 manual vetting fee is non-refundable; resubmission costs another $15 and takes another week or more.

Can I opt out of manual approval?

No — manual review is required by the industry. Separate from the optional $40 brand vetting fee.

Can I send messages during vetting or after a rejection?

No. Messages only send when tied to an approved use case.

Does A2P apply to Canada?

No for Canada → Canada. Yes for Canadian businesses sending to US recipients — they must register like any US business.

Are the $4 brand and $15 use case fees refundable?

No. The $4 goes to The Campaign Registry (TCR) and the $15 goes to the DCA performing manual review. Avochato passes both through without markup.
